I graduated in Detroit on a sunny, May day with hubby and my mother in attendance. I bought a new coral dress for the occasion, we got hubby a matching tie, and I got a wrist corsage.
Aunt Charlotte did indeed haul three cakes from Lake Erie for the family party. She also did the present shopping for Grandma and packed the gifts in enormous, gorgeous hat boxes. I still have mine: blue and aquamarine. I have no use for it but don’t have the heart to get rid of it. It was a great party. My grandma was so happy (and so were the rest of us).
My graduation photos turned out great! And when I got the pictures back I planned to look EXACTLY like this for the rest of my career. Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men.
I’m celebrating my 21st year at the Library of Michigan this month. It’s been a right good 21 years and I can’t think of a better crew to have shared my workaday life with. Shout out to all the LM peeps! And all the Ploud peeps! And all the peeps on Michlib-l! And all the peeps in the Braille and Talking Book Library! And every blessed librarian who ever attended the Rural Libraries Conference! Thank you for letting me make my mistakes while I grew up into a Real Librarian who could be useful.
Stay safe, and I’ll see you on the other side.
